myann23 Posted May 15, 2007 at 09:45 AM Report Posted May 15, 2007 at 09:45 AM Hey Martin, It's the middle of May - CME released yet? Mike Quote
elina Posted May 17, 2007 at 02:41 AM Report Posted May 17, 2007 at 02:41 AM It’s said by the publisher in Xi’an city that the books of New Chinese Made Easier (1) and (2) will be released by the end of this month. Quote
Martin Symonds Posted May 19, 2007 at 01:33 AM Report Posted May 19, 2007 at 01:33 AM Mike, I met with the publishers yesterday. Books 1 & 2 are already out -- but the CD (which will be sold together with the book) won't be ready until the end of the month. They also promised that CME Books 3-5, together with Workbooks for Books 3 & 4, will be ready by end-June. Appreciating your patience. Martin Quote
elina Posted June 7, 2007 at 03:01 AM Report Posted June 7, 2007 at 03:01 AM There’re a number of people asking us about the revised editions of Chinese Made Easier. So I’d like to inform others who are interested to know: Recently it’s said by Shaanxi Normal University Press that the manufacturing factory of these products should at first produce the CDs (MP3 format) which will be sold together with the books, but unluckily they at first make the CD-ROM instead, which will be sold separately apart from the books. So the books are still waiting for the accompanied CDs at present, although they are all printed out now. Everything will be O.K. in 2 weeks? It’s all said by the Press, in addition, the producing process is involved with other companies. Personally, I don’t know the exact time, and we will not give a promise to our customers about the time. Some of our customers want to buy the revised editions, we have written down those requests and will surely inform them as soon as the new materials are available. Quote
Martin Symonds Posted June 7, 2007 at 09:36 AM Report Posted June 7, 2007 at 09:36 AM Dear Friends, Today I met with the software company in Beijing that is producing the MP3 which will be sold together with Chinese Made Easier. All the textbooks have now been recorded. I think I can say fairly definitely that the revised edition will be on sale by the end of June at the latest. Martin Quote
Steve Mercier Posted June 29, 2007 at 03:25 PM Report Posted June 29, 2007 at 03:25 PM I wil be arriving in Kunming in jan 2008 and need to learn as much mandarin as possible. I have been using the Rosetta Stone course for the last week and learned of the book series "Chinese made Easier". I have not been able to find it in any book stores in the US. Is it available in this country and where/how can I order it? Quote
Martin Symonds Posted July 1, 2007 at 12:55 PM Report Posted July 1, 2007 at 12:55 PM Steve, Chinese Made Easier (1st edition) can be purchased in America: http://www.chinesemall.com/noname188.html However, I suggest you just buy Book 1, because a) it is much more expensive buying it in America, and B) the 2nd edition will soon be out. In Kunming, there are several schools that both sell and teach Chinese Made Easier: South Cloud Language School (0871) 533 8250 Dongfang school: (0871) 535 8860 Admin. Director: Jackie Tang 133 3046 6990 Manna Chinese Language School: (0871) 821 4585 All these schools are good and offer 1-on-1 teaching. Dongfang can also give you a student visa. I hope you enjoy studying it!! Martin www.chinesemadeeasier.com Quote
Steve Mercier Posted July 2, 2007 at 03:28 PM Report Posted July 2, 2007 at 03:28 PM Thank you for the information. This will be very helpful. I will have to wait for the 2nd ediiton, as the site indicated that Book#1 was on back ouder. My sponsor, SIL, has arranged for me to attend Kunming University to study Mandarin there. Needless to say, I have a very steep learning curve before January! Again, thank you for your help. Quote

Martin Symonds Posted July 4, 2007 at 02:23 AM Report Posted July 4, 2007 at 02:23 AM Steve, I wouldn't wait for the 2nd edition to arrive in USA -- contact Ellen Zhu in Beijing and order it from her now! While still in America, you may like to consider buying the online version of Chinese Made Easier. Martin Symonds Posted July 5, 2007 at 09:53 AM Report Posted July 5, 2007 at 09:53 AM Just to let you know that the 2nd edition is now published. There is also a Workbook to go with Books 3 & 4. I personally think it is easiest to buy the books from Ellen Zhu [ellenzhu2006@yahoo.com.cn] as she is very efficient, although you can also try to order it from your local Foreign Languages Bookstore in China. I warmly welcome any feedback on the 2nd edition. Martin chinesemadeeasier@hotmail.co.uk Quote
