roddy Posted May 26, 2003 at 05:06 AM Report Posted May 26, 2003 at 05:06 AM I've just been given a frozen tomato to eat. Now, before it's defrosted. Apparently this is very common in the north-east, where you can freeze stuff by leaving it outside for 5 minutes in winter, but I never got frozen tomatoes to eat in Harbin. Anyone else been given frozen tomatoes to eat, or is it just me. It's nice enough, just plain weird . . . Roddy Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 26, 2003 at 01:50 PM Report Posted May 26, 2003 at 01:50 PM When I was travelling in the Northeast during one winter I bought some fruit that was naturally frozen outdoors and told how to eat it. I wasn't sure I had understood properly so I ate it in two ways . At this point I can't even remember the fruit (probably pears or maybe persimmons). I put one in hot boiled water from the hotel thermos and the other I just gnawed on frozen. Neither were very appetizing or seemingly worth the effort flavour-wise but was an interesting experience. 1 Quote
seahorse Posted June 4, 2003 at 10:01 AM Report Posted June 4, 2003 at 10:01 AM tomato is short plant, but that frozen "tomato"you mentioned should come from big tree. in chinese : tomato is XiHongShi. FrozenTomato is Dong Shi zi. Not Frozen tomato is Shi zi . this Frozen fruit 's tree can be very easy to find in beijing. maybe ,its name is persimmon(shi zi). so you ate Frozen tomato or frozen persimmon? I only ate Frozen persimmon once...,because........ in a nice HK movie,a lady take a skep of frozen persimmon to her fancy man in a snowing day......... Quote
