roddy Posted January 6, 2006 at 04:00 AM Report Posted January 6, 2006 at 04:00 AM I think just 'explosion prevention' - explosion prevention measures, explosion prevention guidelines, etc. Not as catchy as the Chinese though. Have you got a sentence or two for us to look at? Roddy Quote
ruiskukka Posted January 6, 2006 at 09:03 AM Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 at 09:03 AM Thank you, Roddy. It's a phrase-'防爆电机'. I translated it as 'blast protection'. (I hope my boss won't blame me. ) Anyway, TGIF. Quote
roddy Posted January 6, 2006 at 09:14 AM Report Posted January 6, 2006 at 09:14 AM Ah, in that case, it's an explosion-proof motor I might go for blast-proof though. Chinese, and then you can find the English. I found this by Googling for the Chinese 防爆电机, found a model number (YB2 in this case) then Googled YB2 and 'motor', because I was sure motor would be in there somewhere. Cheaper, and less reliable, than any dictionary. Roddy EDIT: Ambinent tempertuer should not be more than 40℃ - obviously, only proof against cold explosions . . .EDIT EDIT: Are these motors a) designed to work after an explosion or B) designed not to potentially cause explosions - ie they don't get hot / spark? I think it's the latter, although I didn't at first - see here - I'm just curious. And the English seems to be the same anyway. Quote
Koneko Posted January 6, 2006 at 05:04 PM Report Posted January 6, 2006 at 05:04 PM I think 防爆 should be "blast-proof" Quote
ruiskukka Posted January 7, 2006 at 01:31 PM Author Report Posted January 7, 2006 at 01:31 PM Nice! Great thanx! True. It's the latter. Hmm...definitely need to improve my googling skills. However,(non-related topic) I'm confused why sometimes I couldn't open up Google. I have to refresh again and again, or try with google in different languages. For example, www.google.fr. www.google.de;... If one doesn't work, I will move on to another language. It works in this way most of the time. Confused. Anyway, thanx again. Quote
