Hi,

Im a musician in nz and im thinking of moving to china or taiwan in the future. i will still want to play music, and was wondering if anyone knows the quality of 'jazz' music there. I realize it wont be popular there, but i doubt if it hasnt turned up somewhere.

Can anyone help me? I would love it if someone could take a mp3 player /recorder and record some jazz there for me.

cheers

Hi Josh

There are several jazz bars in Taipei and many places have jazz nights just about every week. Have a look of the links below, try to download the music:

There used to the Taipei Jazz Festival but I'm not sure if itis still going. Once you are in Taipei you can check out the Jazz bars (the ones I know are "Blue Note" and "TU"). There're a number of bars all concentrated around Shi-Da (Taiwan Normal University), either on Shi-Da Road or Roosevelt Road. Hope this helps.
