Shadowdh Posted January 9, 2006 at 07:48 AM Report Posted January 9, 2006 at 07:48 AM Hi there all, not sure if this is the right place for this so feel free to move to the appropriate location Roddy, I have just (well in about 2 hours) bought an Acer n50 Premium and was wondering what peoples suggestions would be for software to put on it.. Is there a place I could go that has ppc software (net-wise)...?? Also I have found a few sites for chinese related software (esp plec which I will be getting) but would like to know if there are any recommendations or even ones I should avoid... Also I know this is a Chinese forum but someone may know if there is a Russian equivalent of the plecodict or mdict etc... I think thats about it for now but will probably have other questions as I am pretty IT illiterate... Thanks all... Quote

Learner Posted January 13, 2006 at 02:36 PM Report Posted January 13, 2006 at 02:36 PM Shadowdh > ...someone may know if there is a Russian equivalent of the plecodict or mdict I personally do not have a handheld computer, so I cannot say whether there are "equivalents". However, I do use the Russian "Lingvo" program and accompanying dictionaries on my desktop computer, and find them quite good. The Lingvo site says that Version 11 of the program can be used on a Pocket PC as well. Currently, the bilingual (RU+EN) and hexalingual (Russian + several European languages, but not Chinese) variations of Version 11 are available. Each of these includes a variety of bilingual and unilingual dictionaries. The multilingual version (including Chinese) is expected later this month. I have Version 10, which does not officially support Chinese, but I am able to use user-supplied Chinese dictionaries with it. One of the advantages of the Lingvo program is the large number of free user-supplied dictionaries available for it on the Internet. It is also fairly simple to make your own dictionaries.
