opper567 Posted January 11, 2006 at 02:03 AM Report Posted January 11, 2006 at 02:03 AM 关系 - What is it? I don't really get it? Quote
semantic nuance Posted January 11, 2006 at 07:14 AM Report Posted January 11, 2006 at 07:14 AM Hi, 關係 means 'relation' or 'relationship'. But it can be said in the following phrases: that's ok/ it doesn't matter/ never mind, etc. Ex: 1. A: 我明天沒辦法跟你們去看電影了. I won't be able to see a movie with you tomorrow. B: 沒關係. That's ok. Hope it helps! Quote

randall_flagg Posted January 11, 2006 at 05:50 PM Report Posted January 11, 2006 at 05:50 PM I know I am overstating it, but Guanxi what makes Chinese society run. It means eleborate networks of personal connections, getting deals through the backdoor etc. But most importantly it relies on people doing other people favors, for the sole reason that they know they will be granted a favor in the future. One cannot overstate the importance of Guanxi connections in China. Quote
