amego Posted January 18, 2006 at 09:12 AM Report Posted January 18, 2006 at 09:12 AM Cantonese has some unique auxiliary words that can convey certain meanings easily, for example 緊,咗,晒,埋,添,翻. Most have their counter part in Mandarin: 我而家做緊嘢。 我現在在做東西。 I'm doing some stuff now. however, 我而家嚟緊。"I'm coming now." 我現在來。(Doesn't have that full "coming" feel) "I come now." 我現在在來。(Wrong) "I'm coming now." 我在途中。"I'm on the way." 我要來了。"I'm about to come." All these do not have that full "comING" feel, IMHO. May i know what about Shanghainese? thanx ala for striking up my interest in Shanghainese =p Quote
