Calling a Chinese cell phone from the US.

Has anyone experienced problems in connecting to a Chinese cell phone in China when calling from a land line in the US? I know that some countries can be problematic (for example, Russia). Or at least it used to a couple years ago.

What is your problem?

I usually start with 00186+phone number. Please note that you do not need to add province code before the phone number when dial a chinese cell phone, at least in my case.

My parents have called my cell a couple of times from their land line in the US and reported no problems...

If you're using SkypeOUT, then it's also an easy way to go.

Very cheap, i pay much less then domestic land line calls,

and the quality is really nice! (one exception, which was the new year's eve)

hi. for good price calling china, go to http://www.onesuite.com - it's 2.2 cents a minute to land or cell and the call is very clear; also allows you to set almost everything automatic (no need to enter acct#, pin#, even tel#) so it's quick & easy for people perhaps unaccustomed to dialing 20+ numbers to place a phone call!

I don't know why...but I have found that some cell phone numbers need the province code and some do not. I have used discount calling cards and Skype and have been very successful at calling China. Have you called before? Sometimes they have a strange ringing tone that you may not be used to and are assuming it is wrong.

I use ecall-china to call back. Its connection is very good
