earendil31 Posted January 26, 2006 at 06:02 AM Report Posted January 26, 2006 at 06:02 AM Just a quick question. I haven't been in Beijing since 2002, and I was wondering if they'd finished any of the various subway lines that were proposed (Line 5, Line 10 etc), particularly Line 5, the north-south version of the Line 2 that crosses Line 1, 2, and 13. Thanks! Quote
Sophia_Shang Posted January 26, 2006 at 06:50 AM Report Posted January 26, 2006 at 06:50 AM Well, as I'm now studying in Beijing, I might offer some help with the question. They have finished the line 13 and line 'Ba Tong', which stretched line 1 to the east suburb area. As to other lines, well, they are still under constuction. The government promised the citizens to finish it before 2007, the year before Beijing Olympics. Quote
gougou Posted January 26, 2006 at 10:15 AM Report Posted January 26, 2006 at 10:15 AM In fact I seem to recall that not all subway lines are scheduled to be finished by 2008; I think some lines are planned to be available by 2010 only. Quote
adrianlondon Posted January 26, 2006 at 10:23 AM Report Posted January 26, 2006 at 10:23 AM How about the one linking the airport to the city centre? I know taxis aren't very expensive (even so, I took the bus when I went to Beijing), but the subway might be quicker. Quote
gougou Posted January 26, 2006 at 11:56 AM Report Posted January 26, 2006 at 11:56 AM According to this article, it should be ready "in time for the Olympics". Quote
