Xiao Kui Posted January 28, 2006 at 08:18 PM Report Posted January 28, 2006 at 08:18 PM Last year I bought several Chinese novels. I didn´t plan it this way, but they shared a common theme. They were set in rural Chinese towns during the Cultural Revolution or around that time and they were about kids growing up there. They were all by different authors, one was 草房子 by 曹文轩 which was recommended to me by a Chinese friend, and I understand is read by many middle school students. Then there was another novel set in the countryside in the 30s or 40s abt decline of wealthy landlords. I have enjoyed reading these books and I wanted to know if there was a Chinese term for this specific genre: modern novels abt life in the countryside. Thanks! Quote
