skylee Posted February 4, 2006 at 11:48 AM Report Posted February 4, 2006 at 11:48 AM I went to donate blood today in response to this call, and after filling out pages of registration and questionnaire I was rejected because a) I have been to Thailand in the past 2 weeks (avian flu there!) and B) I have been to India in the past year (malaria there!). Judging from the questionnaire, other causes of rejection may include prolonged stay in the UK and France during the 1980s and 1990s (mad cow disease) and recent visits to North America (west nile virus). No wonder there is a blood shortage ... But I think we can be quite sure that HK hospitals supply clean blood ... Any thoughts? Quote
geraldc Posted February 4, 2006 at 12:05 PM Report Posted February 4, 2006 at 12:05 PM In the UK you can't donate blood if you've been to Shenzhen in the past 6 months. Quote
