geraldc Posted February 7, 2006 at 04:33 PM Report Posted February 7, 2006 at 04:33 PM My family is from Huanggang in Shenzhen, and I went back to see the family village and 祠堂. No one seems to post any pictures from the South, so I thought I'd start. Shenzhen's not a total cultural vacuum Entry gate to 皇岗 "village" Square in 皇岗 leading to 祠堂 祠堂 looking out of place infront of 30 storey flats Temple 祠堂 again Inside the 祠堂 Huanggang square They have the cutest Police cars in 东门 Couldn't figure out why 东门 needed a T Rex rampage Quote
Outofin Posted February 7, 2006 at 06:00 PM Report Posted February 7, 2006 at 06:00 PM Oh, I love the police car. It looks like the one in 企鹅村 (a fairy villiage in a Japanese manga book). Quote

Quest Posted February 7, 2006 at 11:35 PM Report Posted February 7, 2006 at 11:35 PM Is that a real police car? How cool is that?! Yes, these cars have been ridiculed time after time. But for a patrol car, they save a lot of space. Oh, I love the police car. It looks like the one in 企鹅村 (a fairy villiage in a Japanese manga book). Yes IQ 博士, I think they have these police cars in Korea and Japan as well. Quote

roddy Posted February 8, 2006 at 02:58 AM Report Posted February 8, 2006 at 02:58 AM They also have them on the square outside Beijing Railway Station. Make a lot of sense for pedestrianized areas, but I still think they should use horses. Quote
randall_flagg Posted February 8, 2006 at 06:10 AM Report Posted February 8, 2006 at 06:10 AM Why would you like horses better than those cute little cars? I'd just feel sorry for the horses in any downtown area! Quote
roddy Posted February 8, 2006 at 09:06 AM Report Posted February 8, 2006 at 09:06 AM A trained police horse won't get put off by traffic - used to see them chasing down football fans in Glasgow quite regularly. They have them in Dalian, don't they? Quote
skylee Posted February 8, 2006 at 10:02 AM Report Posted February 8, 2006 at 10:02 AM They have them in Dalian, don't they? And policewomen on horseback too. Photos here. Quote
