Producer Posted February 9, 2006 at 05:23 PM Report Posted February 9, 2006 at 05:23 PM The Chinese Channel’s 無線衛星台 Network Chinatown has been established for more than five years now and we have locally produced various different programmes for European Chinese. We are planning to film the 3rd series of European Born Chinese 香港再造 (EBC III) this year and currently I am doing some preliminary research for the programmes. I am looking for participants who are willing to be filmed on issues that concern European born Chinese. Below are some topics that we might cover. I would be very grateful if you could have a look and see whether you or someone you know who would like to make a comment on these issues. If there are other topics that you would like us to investigate concerning EBCs, please do contact me. Series III - 2006 Possible Issues of Discussion related to European born Chinese Global Issues - Terrorism: how it affects us. EBCs involved in these major atrocities (9/11, 7/7, Madrid train crash) - War: in military services for EU/China. Feeling towards fighting for justice/democracy - Natural disasters (Tsunami/Earthquakes): EBC doing voluntary help/raising awareness/in development of new technologies for prevention - Political forum: established EBCs in the political arena for EU/China governing bodies China Issues - Beijing Olympics 2008 – EBCs involved in planning, interpreting, participating etc - WTO & High profile EU/China business ventures – Shanghai Meglav (High Speed Train) Family Issues - Retirement of 1st generation: staying in UK/EU or going back to HK/China - Death and traditions: conflicting views on ceremonies and place of rest - Raising children: methods of teaching/disciplining, social benefits awareness - Adoption: Caucasian family with Chinese children, Chinese family with Caucasian children - Inter-racial marriages children and their cultural identities: working in China/HK - Chinese Gay & Lesbians living in Europe: finding partners (Caucasians/Chinese), what are their needs, conflicts with family – is being Chinese making it even more difficult to come out? New Generations of European Born Chinese - New immigrants and their families: Mainlanders, Singaporeans, Malaysians, Filipinos etc. - Will the influx of Chinese from Mainland China affect the socio-economic makeup of European societies? If you or people that you know fit in any of the categories above and would like to participate then please email me with your/your friend’s details. Thank you so much for your time and co-operation.
