Taxi fare from BJ railway station -> Wudaokou??

My train from Shanghai arrives at Beijing (Main???) Railway Station Thursday Feb 24th. How much (in RMB) would a reasonable taxi fare be from BJ Railway Station to Wudaokou?

At a guess, I would say 40-50RMB, maybe a little higher. If you are anywhere near rush hour (which pretty much means daylight hours in Beijing, plus most of the evening) then you will wind up spending a lot of time in traffic, as you basically have to traverse the city south to north.

If you don't have much luggage, you might want to think about taking the subway - there's a subway station right outside Beijing Station (the main one, assuming that's where you are arriving) and then you can change to the light rail at Xizhimen.

If you want a chance to sit down and get your breath after you get into the train station, head over the overpass - the Henderson Center directly opposite the station has a number of restaurants / fast food places, and there's a Starbucks in the shopping center just to the right of it. Again, probably depends how much luggage you have.

Just a heads up, a lot of the time the cab drivers won't stop by that Starbucks to pick you up. I've heard mixed stories from them though, a lot say the police don't let them stop on that street. However, If you walk down the street from Starbucks and around the corner you should be able to get one.

Also... for some reason I had a ton of problems just getting a cab from the rail station in general. A lot of the time the cab drivers would never want to use the meter and were always just looking for a foreigner to ring up the bill on. Hence I had to walk around the corner and grab one :)
