New to forum. Will be moving to Beijing in July and want to know if I will be able to access my online subscrition to The Economist. I realize that the answer to this question could and probably will change on a whim. Thanks for the assist!

The site is blocked.

However, it is (like most blocked sites) available if you use a proxy to get round the block.

I can get it in Beijing, but there seems to be some technical problem with the index page, I have to go to another page, like this first.

You may encounter occassional problems due to actual on-page content, but I don't think there's any site-wide ban.

Oh Yes! How strange. I have never been able to get into the first page without using a proxy, and so, assumed that it was blocked.

I have been in Beijing for a year and I've never had a problem accessing the Economist website. I read it pretty regularly and access it from home. Not sure about internet cafes etc.
