Piers Carlson Posted February 27, 2006 at 06:32 AM Report Posted February 27, 2006 at 06:32 AM hello, i'm new here, and i like the newsinchinese automated blog. I'd like to update the dictionary but i don't quite see how to, here are two examples : 沉没 "to sink", the pinyin was chen2mei3, where as it should be chen2mo4. 约 is indeed yue1, but sometimes it means "approximately" and not "date" or "to date". thanks for any advice on how to update the dictionary Piers Quote
trevelyan Posted February 27, 2006 at 05:58 PM Report Posted February 27, 2006 at 05:58 PM Click on the "Advanced Editing" link on the right side of the NewsinChinese page, or go directly to the dictionary editor here: http://www.adsotrans.com/adso/uniedit.pl Have made the corrections for 沉没. Since there are many definitions for 约 and the software is attempting to identify the proper definition it occasionally makes mistakes. The most helpful thing you can do in cases of prominent errors like this is to post a comment on the specific article on NewinChinese pointing out the error. If you can think of a specific grammatical or contextual rule which can be used to help the software disambiguate the particular definition of any word, that is often helpful as well. Quote
