Travel opportunities at BCLU?

I'll be headed to BCLU at the end of March. I was wondering if BCLU has some type of service which offers/organizes trips to other areas in China to visit? I know if you applied to BCLU through a middleman, they state that they try to organize trips with groups of students. Since I applied directly, is there something available at the University?

there are definitely group-trips organized by BLCU, but I do not have any specific information. The only thing I know is that during summer they organize trips to inner Mongolia, Xi An, the Great Wall etc.

When I was there they organized several trips for foreign students, through the year. To some sites around Beijing (Great Wall, Peking Man site), but also to Harbin, and also something in the summer I suppose (but not when I was there, that was sars time).

They also had a little travel agency on campus, that could book train and plane tickets for you.

I think you'll find when you get there that lots of people are organising their own weekend / holiday trips away and it'll be very easy to team up with people going in the same direction. Agencies will do it for you, but once you've got a bit of Chinese under your belt independent travel (with or without a bunch of mates) is pretty straightforward.

They do organize trips, but they may not be as frequent or at the times you wish.....just make some friends and go yourselves....much more fun.
