Hello

Does anyone know the translation to the song lyrics below? It is for a school class next week and they are sure to ask what the words mean...

Derling dang piao yi piao

derling dang piao yi piao

der piao, der piao

der piao, der piao

piao yi piao

der piao piao yi piao

Thanks very much

Yes! I hear that song sung quite often on the public bus in China.

Here is the translation:

Who hasn't bought a ticket?

Who hasn't bought a ticket?

Purchase ticket, purchase ticket!

Purchase ticket, purchase ticket!

One ticket or two?

Purchase ticket, one ticket!

You're welcome!

I suppose it is from 鳳陽花鼓 (Fengyang Huagu). In Chinese it is something like this -

得兒啷噹飄一飄 得兒啷噹飄一飄

得兒飄 得兒飄 得兒飄得兒 飄飄一得兒 飄飄飄一飄

Here is the English translation, and you can see that there is no translation for that part.

And you can find the Chinese lyric here (see item 9).

Since no translation is give, that means the passage is just a representation of the sound of the drums and gong.
