little_lilacs Posted March 9, 2006 at 07:45 PM Report Posted March 9, 2006 at 07:45 PM Hi Everyone! Does anyone know what the process for getting a Visa from Canada to study at BLCU? BLCU is going to send me an original JW202 application, but they have only FAXED me a copy of the acceptance letter. Does anyone know if the Chinese Embassy in Toronto accepts faxes? I can't seem to get a hold of anyone at the Chinese Embassy to answer my questions? I am forever stuck in the IVR! Thank you! Quote
snarfer Posted March 10, 2006 at 03:22 AM Report Posted March 10, 2006 at 03:22 AM I don't think the Chinese Embassy in any country actually answers the phone. If I were you I would just go down there in person. Quote
etcetera24 Posted March 10, 2006 at 06:15 AM Report Posted March 10, 2006 at 06:15 AM little_lilacs are you in toronto? I went to the consulate there to process my visa for BLCU. I don't remember how important it was to have the acceptance letter was but by far the most important thing is to bring the JW202 that BLCU mails to you (I believe they mail the original acceptance letter along with the form anyway). You will have to go to the consulate in person to hand in the application. Word of advice, if you are going to Toronto consulate (St. George TTC station): it is quite busy and they close for an hour or so for lunch. So call and listen to the phone recording for hours of operation before you go. Good luck, Cat Quote
croyd Posted March 10, 2006 at 07:27 AM Report Posted March 10, 2006 at 07:27 AM I just got my visa from the Chinese consulate in Toronto. I brought the original JW202 form but they said for me to give them a copy of it since you have to bring the original back to China with you. Luckily, I had a photocopy of the form with me so I gave it to them. I'm guessing you can just photocopy your fax and give it to them but I'm not sure if there's a need to see the original copy that would be mailed to you. I'm surprised you were able to get BCLU to fax you a copy. -Jeff Quote
