Do people there still learn Portuguese *before* university? Street signs in Macau are all in Portuguese, yet I still have to meet a Macanese who speaks it.

I think Macanese (those with pure Portuguese blood and mixed blood) still speak Portuguese. When I dined in the authentic Portuguese restaurants in Macau, I always heard Portuguese spoken between the boss and their friends.

But unlike Britons in HK, the Portuguese in Macau are very immersed in the society that most Macanese can also speak Cantonese.
