gato Posted January 1, 2010 at 05:04 PM Report Posted January 1, 2010 at 05:04 PM does anyone know how to add mouseover pinyin/english functionality to a website or blog? Maybe you can try popjisyo? Prodigal Son Posted January 1, 2010 at 11:25 PM Report Posted January 1, 2010 at 11:25 PM thanks for the help, that looks cool but what I'm looking for is something that installs onto my blog and allows visitors to mouseover chinese straight away. Quote
roddy Posted January 2, 2010 at 12:46 PM Report Posted January 2, 2010 at 12:46 PM You probably want something like this if you want to automate it. But to be honest this I suspect it's better to leave the text blank and let users apply whatever methods they prefer, perhaps with links to a few recommended tools. Quote
Prodigal Son Posted January 2, 2010 at 01:00 PM Report Posted January 2, 2010 at 01:00 PM good point Roddy, a lot of people probably have firefox plugins installed. also I tried that wordpress plugin, it was made 2 years ago and doesn't work with new versions of wordpress. Quote
roddy Posted January 2, 2010 at 01:08 PM Report Posted January 2, 2010 at 01:08 PM There might be something similar out there, I don't know. But like you say, I think anyone likely to want pop up translations knows how to get them. I've played with them on this site, but there never seemed to be that much interest. Quote
yuanfen89 Posted January 2, 2010 at 09:37 PM Report Posted January 2, 2010 at 09:37 PM Anyone using a good mouse-over dictionary with Google Chrome (specifically using a mac)? Quote
debman3 Posted January 10, 2010 at 05:51 PM Report Posted January 10, 2010 at 05:51 PM still about MDBG, I bought a license few month ago and the soft is still great. but I get two annoying bugs : _the first one can happen with everyone, if the software is ON you can't use copy/paste (ctrl+c/ctrl+v), it's pretty annoying but it's okay since turning it OFF in the taskbar just solve the problem _the second one is realllyyyy annoying, but won't annoy most people here. When I use dreaweaver (to create website) it turns pages from unicode to chinese. EVERYTIME I open a page... And this, even if MDBG is OFF in the taskbar, so I have to shut it down everytime I'm using dreamweaver ;( quite a pain. anyway if you do not use dreamweaver you won't have this issue so... all good. hope a developper from MDBG is reading that :| Quote
Gizmonoid Posted February 17, 2010 at 05:27 PM Report Posted February 17, 2010 at 05:27 PM debman3 I'm not really happy about their purchase and activation procedure. They suggest that u install the app by downloadin' & runnin' an online installer (so u can't even keep the original app ). The next step will be to activate the product which also requires u to be online. What if I want to re-install & re-activate the product but I'm offline? Do I do the whole thing again? Quote
debman3 Posted February 17, 2010 at 06:43 PM Report Posted February 17, 2010 at 06:43 PM I don't really know, ask them by mail. I'm not really fond of their system :s but again, the soft does the job ! Quote
haton Posted February 20, 2010 at 08:54 PM Report Posted February 20, 2010 at 08:54 PM Have you tried Pablo? It has mouseover capability, many other features and it is free. http://ehaton.blogspot.com Quote
flameproof Posted February 23, 2010 at 03:20 AM Report Posted February 23, 2010 at 03:20 AM (edited) Have you tried Pablo? Just did on Xp. Like: Easy to install. Dict. install automatically Can use in any Win application. Don't like: Pinyin characters are not clear to read Does not work with MSN and QQ The last point is the knock out point for me. Hope you fix that soon. PS: The MDBG is way too expensive. For $10 they could get a few 1000 users in sort time but with their pricing it's more for a selected few. haton Posted February 28, 2010 at 10:50 AM Report Posted February 28, 2010 at 10:50 AM Hello flameproof, Popup support in Messenger and QQ is a great idea! I have worked a bit on it and I posted a new version that offers some support in those programs. Not perfect, but it should show translations in the conversations. Enjoy it from: http://ehaton.blogspot.com/ Quote
Guest realmayo Posted August 29, 2010 at 04:12 PM Report Posted August 29, 2010 at 04:12 PM I want a mouse-over pop-up dictionary to use in Microsoft Word. To those who have paid for this kind of software, would you recommend I did the same? Or are the free ones mentioned above just as good? Thanks. Quote
