Hey everyone,

I was wondering about the expression xiao4 yi2 ge4 (sorry, at school) And I assume it means, "To smile a little" but I was wondering about some details before I go full out and use this expression. Firstly, does it apply to all verbs as the title of this thread assumes?

Secondly, is ge4 the only counter that is used or are other counters possible/necessary?

Thirdly, if the first stipulation is correct, does it have a broader meaning than 'to do Verb a little" or is my assumption here incorrect. Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Hi 日本人

No. Only very limited verbs.

来,笑一个嘛。 Come on, have a smile.

来,笑一点嘛。Come on, have some smile.

来嘛,笑一下。Come on, have a little smile.

做一个。Make one.

做一点。Do some.

做一下。Do for a while.

Anyway almost all verbs can attach to 一点 and 一下. Only 一个 is special.

Right now I can only think of 笑一个 :)

Take note that 来一个 means to have one, to eat

来一个包吧。Have a bun.

The counter word follows the food.

来一碗汤吧。Have a bowl of soup.

来一杯凉茶吧。Have a glass of herbal tea.

Of course, 来一点 means to have some

来一点喝的吧。Have some drinks.

I once said to a friend 來親一個 and was given a cold look.

Hmmm your friend not 开放(open-minded) enough

What could 來親一個 mean?

Give me a kiss?

Yupzz
