An incredible (new?) resource for beginner/intermediate learners

I've long scoured the CCTV.com maze for any materials I could find from the show "Happy China" (快樂中國). There have been quite a few posts here from people desperate to get their hands on actual video from the show, and while it still seems rather difficult to get any such material here in the US (anyone?), it seems they've given us the next best thing to actual streaming video on their site:

http://www.cctv.com/program/happychina/02/index.shtml

You notice this page links to contains links to a few past episodes, each of which contains their full transcripts - and therein lies my excitement. On each of these pages you will find hundreds of simple sentences in Chinese, each with their own line by line translations into English. It's dialog so it's comparatively interesting and easy to stick with.

I hope this isn't a repost, it's certainly new to me! Hope you find it useful.

Thanks for that - it does look useful and although I initially thought (oh, effort, there's no pinyin) it's probably good for me to look up the words I don't know even though, being a beginner-ish, that's quite a few of them :)

Wow... thats a great find and thanks for sharing, they seem to be simple yet challanging (at least for a beginner like myself).

Looks like a very good one, Necroflux, sorry but where's the audio? I open links with dialogs but I couldn't hear anything. I used both Fiefox and MS IE, searched for audio links. What have I missed? :wall

There is no audio on the site, that I can find - just the transcripts, which is great learning material in and of itself (I think better than actually watching the show). Incidentally, though, I wrote the show's email address and asked if one could watch the show online somehow, here was the reply I got:

亲爱的观众朋友:

您好!您可以直接登录我们的网站点击视频,下载观看。非常感谢您对我们节目的支持和关注。

祝学习、生活中每天都充满快乐!

Weird thing is I can't find any kind of a log in anywhere on that page, or on the site period. Can anyone find anything?

I couldn't find the videos for "Happy China," either, but did find this Chinese-teaching program also with a travel theme.

thanks Roddy, however I am really after the videos. I know the Happy China website used to offer them for download for free. Is this still in effect ?

Youtube has a whole bunch but I have almost viewed all of those.

Thanks guys.

When I try to view the Happy China videos I do not get any sound. Am I the only one to have this problem?
