Now I have some issues with specific words that just don't appear in dictionaries so how do I know what it means? I'm trying to understand how to read words that should make sense to a native speaker but won't to someone just armed with a dictionary. 以慈悲喜舍之心 what does 喜舍 mean? a place for happiness? i'm not getting 舍. 起救苦救难之行 does 行 mean 行動? 兴乐拔苦 缔造清新洁凈之慈济世界 i don't understand 济 in 慈济 以理事圆融之智能 this whole line is kinda confusing but 理事圆融 is the most confusing. what is the in/direct object, what is the action, etc. 力邀天下善士 does 力 suggest that one should do this action with power? 同耕一方福田 to cultivate in the land of happiness together, 勤植万蕊心莲 this one doesn't make sense to me, "diligently plant 10,000 pistils heart lotus." how should i read 蕊心莲? 同造爱的社会 法师体悟到 what is 体? is it just used as 体悟 for the verb realized? skylee Posted March 23, 2006 at 07:23 AM Report Posted March 23, 2006 at 07:23 AM 喜舍 - 舍 is the simplified form of 捨, which means to give up/away. 喜捨 = being generous 起救苦救难之行 - 行 can be 行動 or 行爲 or a long walk to raise fund 济 in 慈济 - 濟 basically means help. It means 救濟 (relief) or 周濟 (aid) 以理事圆融之智能 - With the wit of handling things tactfully 力邀天下善士 - 力 means strongly, enthusiastically 万蕊心莲 - here 蕊 is the count word for flowers (lotus flowers) - 10,000 number of lotus in the heart 体悟 - similar to 體會 and 領悟 Quote
