alayi Posted March 22, 2006 at 05:55 PM Report Posted March 22, 2006 at 05:55 PM What are the names of some well known artists who play Chinese traditional instruments or some respected chamber groups? What are some good CDs that are available in the US? Sorry for the really broad question. Quote
skylee Posted March 23, 2006 at 10:36 AM Report Posted March 23, 2006 at 10:36 AM Perhaps you could try erhu/huqin player Huang Anyuan (黃安源, also known as Wong On Yuan in Hong Kong) -> The Huqin World Of Wong On Yuen. You can listen to part of it here. Quote
Xiao Kui Posted March 24, 2006 at 03:26 AM Report Posted March 24, 2006 at 03:26 AM The Naxi orchestra in Lijiang is a pretty famous group. They are from the Naxi ethnic minority. I used to own one of their CDs and enjoyed it though the songs start to sound the same to me after a while. Their CD is available in the US from HMV or Amazon: http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000037HF/qid%3D1143170328/701-0816034-0533917 You can see a picture of them here: http://www.terragalleria.com/asia/china/lijiang/picture.chin5149.html http://www.terragalleria.com/asia/china/lijiang/picture.chin5085.html They even look traditional! hsiezhiyuan Posted August 30, 2006 at 06:37 AM Report Posted August 30, 2006 at 06:37 AM There are so many types of Chinese traditional musical instruments such as Erhu, Pip, Guqin and Bamboo Flute. In the Pipa field, I think Zhang Hongyan is among the best in today's China, following you could find the link to her own website, there some downloads are available. http://www.tbzy.cn/bin/zhy/download/download.htm Quote
