Xu Bing - An artist's new breed of art

My girlfriend showed me some art of Xu Bing. Has anyone heard of him? Before I saw this painting, I had not heard of him. He is from 重庆, and his art is unlike any that I have ever seen before.

Nice! I have a good memory of seeing his "New English Calligraphy" exibition once.

In the gallery show there were many letters from fans of his, all written in this way. That would be cool to learn . . . but regular characters are hard enough for me

I love Xu Bing's work, his made-up characters were also very interesting.

I like to make up characters myself, even before I knew of Xu Bing. Putting some radicals together and see what it looks like. I'm not the only one, see also this thread.
