bluebird73 Posted April 5, 2006 at 11:05 AM Report Posted April 5, 2006 at 11:05 AM Hi, this is Bluebird. I was born in China. I live in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The Chinese characters you cited look like huge jargons, and I don't think their combination bear good meanings. However, roughly you may infer the following meaning from these odd characters: The story of wiping off devils using the righteous weapons. Let me explain each character for you: 兵: Bin1 - the general name of weapons, used in ancient Chinese (Wen2 Yan2 Wen2) 燛: seen also as "煚" - Jiong3 - Sunlight 之: A modifier word, similar to "of" in English. But it modifies the proceeding part. It can be translated to "的 De1" in Chinese 刀: Dang1 - knife, sword 戟: Ji3 - a weapon used in ancient wars. It is shaped like a hook at the head and it is quite sharp to stab into enemies. 戡: Kan1 - to kill, to wipe off 魔: Mo2 - Devil, evil spirits 录: account, record, story Therefore, the combination soft of means "an account of killing devils using the good weapons that are justiful and righteous." I am guessing at its meaning, and definately the whole sentence is rarely said or written by any Chinese I've met in mainland China. Not sure if it is considered normal in Taiwan where people use different terms. Hope this helps. Quote
