adrianlondon Posted April 10, 2006 at 10:32 AM Report Posted April 10, 2006 at 10:32 AM Hi, I have recently switched (back) from Firefox to IE7, just to experiment with the new IE7 beta. However, when trying to use RSS on this site, I get ... This feed contains a DTD (Document Type Definition). DTDs are used to define a structure of a webpage. Internet Explorer does not support DTDs in feeds. Just thought I'd let you know; I'm probably the only person here using IE7. Quote
sky888 Posted April 10, 2006 at 12:46 PM Report Posted April 10, 2006 at 12:46 PM I've been using the RSS feeds on Netvibes.com and the only thing that I get is the thread titles for this site. The rest of the sites that I have listed all give the contents of the thread. Quote
adrianlondon Posted April 10, 2006 at 01:00 PM Author Report Posted April 10, 2006 at 01:00 PM Maybe I should start a thread called, exactly, "This feed contains a DTD (Document Type Definition). DTDs are used to define a structure of a webpage. Internet Explorer does not support DTDs in feeds." just so I can say the same :-) Quote
roddy Posted April 14, 2006 at 06:50 AM Report Posted April 14, 2006 at 06:50 AM Are these problems persisting? The upgrade yesterday may have fixed them. Quote
adrianlondon Posted April 14, 2006 at 11:06 AM Author Report Posted April 14, 2006 at 11:06 AM Hi Roddy, I now get a different error, but this points to my installation rather than this website. I'll have a look to see if the file it's moaning about exists but it could be due to IE7 still being in beta. It has other bugs, so it wouldn't suprise me. "Internet Explorer requires you to have MSXML3 SP5 or greater in order to view feeds.Download the latest version of MSXML3 to solve this issue." Quote
adrianlondon Posted April 14, 2006 at 12:04 PM Author Report Posted April 14, 2006 at 12:04 PM Bloody windows and its propensity for requiring a reboot after every change. Anyway, I patched the XML parser and now get the following error. Means nothing to me An invalid character was found in text content. Line: 38 Character: 45 Quote
JanMichiel Posted June 5, 2006 at 02:03 PM Report Posted June 5, 2006 at 02:03 PM I get the same error message (other line/character): An invalid character was found in text content. Line: 23 Character: 16 朱茵、余安安、汤宝如、李逸朗、 Quote
Ding Yiyi Posted June 5, 2006 at 10:42 PM Report Posted June 5, 2006 at 10:42 PM I got the same error as Jan, same line, etc. I bet theres a problem with IE7 (it is beta), but it must be different across the pond. Have you had any opportunity to play with IE7 Beta, Roddy? Quote
md1101 Posted June 6, 2006 at 05:50 AM Report Posted June 6, 2006 at 05:50 AM do you reckon ie7 has any advantages over firefox? i took the 'tour' on the microsoft website and nothing stood out. i love the rss bookmarks in firefox Quote
adrianlondon Posted June 6, 2006 at 08:48 AM Author Report Posted June 6, 2006 at 08:48 AM Loads of discussion elswehere on the net about that. if you want to discuss it here, it's probably neater to start a new thread. I'm full of opinions, so will post to it Quote
roddy Posted June 12, 2006 at 12:12 AM Report Posted June 12, 2006 at 12:12 AM It's all quite simple, see here Quote
Ding Yiyi Posted June 12, 2006 at 02:19 AM Report Posted June 12, 2006 at 02:19 AM There isn't much of a difference in browser amenities and such between IE7 and Firefox, but the one thing I've noticed about IE7 is that all the colors seem a little bit brighter, whites especially. I used Firefox for about a year and a half before even thinking about trying IE again, until I heard they were adding tabs. That's what got me to try it, and so far I kinda like it. Quote
