What does 鞿 mean?

My 古代汉语词典 gives me an explanation I don't understand. And as a quote it gives me the same line I was trying to understand it the first place.

人生如此自可乐， 岂必局束为人鞿. I　think I understand this, but how would you translate 鞿? Wenlin doesn't have it!!

This is from 韩愈's 山石, which completely blows my mind.

This seems to suggest 'bit, bridle', 'constrain' and the like. I had another link which said something similar but I closed that window.

My dictionary lists an annotation to that line of the poem: "钱仲联补注：鞿，此处作动词用，牵制也。”

Roddy: The site you link to - what precisely is licensed under Creative Commons there? The Chinese is identical to Kingsoft's iCiba (down to the formatting and misplaced comma), and the English looks machine-translated, poorly.

my gosh! sometimes i feel really stupid... and sometimes i feel like today, which is beyond stupid. i tried deciphering my handwritten notes -- to no avail. i KNEW i had found a meaning before...darn, this is not good. feel free to delete this thread.
