I wonder how many different words would Chinese from different regions use for a "marker pen". I already know three of them: 油漆笔,奇异笔 (common in Taiwan),and phonetical translations 麦克笔, 马克笔 and maybe some others. I`d like to know if there is any semantical difference between all those variants. Thanks a lot.

In Shanghai, we usually call it 马克笔 or more commonly 记号笔(Maybe in Shanghainese, 记号笔 is more frequently used. While It doesn't differ much since whichever you call it we know exactly what you mean.)And my friend who is from Anhui(安徽), call it 麦克笔(And the first time I heard that I was so confused and really didn't know what she meant.)

'马克笔' '麦克笔' '记号笔'.... are a translation from 'Mark pen', '马克笔' '麦克笔' is translate the 'Mark pen' from its pronoucation, '记号笔'...is translate the 'Mark pen' from its word meaning , which 'Mark' in chinese means '记号' or '作记号'.

For chinese '马克笔' '麦克笔' '记号笔'.... is a new word from foreign lanuage. just like '沙发' for sofa.

签字笔 is different from above. which mean a pen usually used to sign name. that is , the word writing with it is difficult to be ereased or changed.

And 奇异笔, i think, is a translation from "magic pen", which was (or is) one of the brand names of marker pens in the West.
