Dongfang Posted April 22, 2006 at 05:47 PM Report Posted April 22, 2006 at 05:47 PM Hello, I'm very confused but I have a problem with these following sentences : 在公園有很多人 在公園里有很多人 公園里有很多人 I would like to know the diferences between these three sentences, what is wrong and why and perhaps there is some other ways to say these sentences. Thanks Quote
sarahkuang Posted April 22, 2006 at 10:43 PM Report Posted April 22, 2006 at 10:43 PM Sorry about the last post, I was in a hurry and didn't explain it clearly. 在...里 has two meaning : 'be in' and 'in " ...里 has only one: 'in' 在公园有很多人。 It lacks ' 里‘ in it. grammar error. 公园里有很多人。It means "in the park there are a lots of people" 在公园里有很多人。It means the same the above one. The "在...里" functions as "in" 有很多人在公园里。In this sentence 在...里 functions as 'be in' You can not say 有很多人公园里。 Any question? Quote
skylee Posted April 23, 2006 at 12:02 AM Report Posted April 23, 2006 at 12:02 AM IMHO they describe the same thing and I don't see any obvious mistakes. I think someone else will come along to tell you that they have different emphasis and perhaps they should be used to respond to different types of questions like "what/who are in the park" or "where are all the people" etc ... BTW, is there a difference between "there are a lot of people in the park" and "a lot of people are in the park"? Quote
sissi Posted April 23, 2006 at 04:22 AM Report Posted April 23, 2006 at 04:22 AM BTW, is there a difference between "there are a lot of people in the park" and "a lot of people are in the park"? There are quite the same,I think. For the three sentence given by Dongfang,I can't see any differences:) Quote
