New Practical Chinese Reader vs. Integrated Chinese

I'm a beginner and I'm wondering which one I should get. I've been leaning towards IC, but as a set (textbook + workbook + audio CDs) it's much more expensive (over $100 on Amazon) compared to the new second edition of NPCR ($35.90).

Is IC really worth buying considering it's three times as expensive as NPCR?

Sorry for bringing up a very old thread.

I'm also a beginner, and I have been using IC Level 1 as my main textbook. I find it very natural, and the content makes it very easy to use together with my Chinese teacher's lectures. The audio CDs are available as MP3s on the IC website for download. If you do an easy search on the book, you'll find it.

I bought the audio CD there, and use it on my iPhone all the time! For a language where it's so important to listen and hear, I've found it invaluable!

(I haven't had any experience with NPCR, sorry! I'm sure it's a good book)
