gougou Posted May 10, 2006 at 07:28 AM Report Posted May 10, 2006 at 07:28 AM I was in Yashow market yesterday, and on the ground floor, there was a thrive of activity as Western brand name shoes were being packed away and replaced by Chinese brands. Nobody was able to tell me why this was, or how long it would be. Does anybody else know anything about this? I heard that in Shanghai, the fake market sometimes gets closed temporarily when important international delegations arrive. Is that what's happening at Yashow now as well, or are they actually starting to enforce IP laws? (Wow, I feel naive just asking this question... ) Does anybody know about other markets in Beijing? roddy Posted May 10, 2006 at 08:07 AM Report Posted May 10, 2006 at 08:07 AM Given its location its probably a prime target for crack-downs, which happen during major visits, 两会, etc, and if China ever gets serious about this it'll be one of the first to really suffer. Past experience says it won't last though. Roddy Quote
badr Posted May 11, 2006 at 06:02 PM Report Posted May 11, 2006 at 06:02 PM Roddy's right! I remember when they cracked down on the jackets ( North Face) last year and none of them were displaying that brand. You could go in there, try a jacket with a weird name and once you settled on the fit/price, they'd go fetch you the "real" one. It might be the same situation for the shoes; just ask them Quote
