January/February course in Beijing?

Hiya.

I'm wondering if anybody knows of a short course running in Beijing during January/Febuary? I'd be interested in a 4-6 week course. I'm currently at BLCU, and another university course would be great but so far I can't find one. Otherwise, i'd be keen on private tuition but am unsure of how to go about it (textbooks, finding a good teacher etc). Any suggestions?

Check with private schools, like the Diqiucun school near the wudaokou ditie stop.

You could always hire a private tutor. One possibility is finding one of the regular professors tutor you. I know several people last summer that wanted a more professional approach to their learning and hired BLCU profs for that. The profs didn't have time in the mornings (since they were teaching classes) but they would often meet them from like 1-3pm in the afternoons. I think they paid based on experience, ranging from 50/60-80/90 kuai per hour. Yes, it's more than your average tutor (20-40 kuai an hour-hour and a half), but you might be in better hands. A good policy is to try tutors for a week or two until you find one you like. I was lucky enough that my first one was awesome -- she was cheap (30 kuai an hour-hour and a half) and had tutored native English speakers at Samsung for a while. Too bad she moved to England for grad school... it was clear in less than 10 minutes of our first session that she was way more experienced than the previous two people I had spoken with over the phone (after calling numbers from the BLCU bulletin boards).

Also, the ISC near campus had some programs for classes but I don't remember the name... I have also heard some good things from the school the other poster mentions, near the subway stop.
