(please pick the more accurate translation or just outright re-write, thanks-)

#1 Eng.: Nobody studies as hard as you do.

中文:没有人有你学得那么努力。

or...

谁也没你学得那么努力。

#2 Eng.: Anyone can study as hard as I can.

中文:每个人能够学习有我那么用功。

Your translation of the first sentence are correct. But the one of the second sentence is awkward. My translation is such:

任何人都能象我这样用功。

hi,

I would simply say:

1. 誰也沒有你用功.

2.誰都可以像我ㄧ樣用功.

Hope it helps!:)

Zhao HanQing- you said the translation of the first sentence is correct, but I gave two options for that first sentence. Which is the two is more idiomatic? thanks-

#1 Eng.: Nobody studies as hard as you do.

A. 中文:没有人有你学得那么努力。

or...

B. 谁也没你学得那么努力。

A or B?

ㄧ樣用

I notice you always write your '一‘ vertically. Is this common in Taiwan, or is it just something you do?

gato: Are you talking to me? odd! on my screen "ㄧ" appears horizontal. I have no idea why it appears vertical to you. Perhaps it's encoded thing. I don't know.:)

Yes, SN, your ’一‘ looks like a '|' on my screen.

Maybe it is the encoding, but I don't understand why the 'one' I just wrote looks fine on my screen, even when I try to input a 繁体 ‘一’. :help

Does SN's ’一‘ appear vertical for anyone else?

Does SN's ’一‘ appear vertical for anyone else?

Looks that way to me too. My encoding says UTF-8

gato, yes it is. But it doesn't look like the chinese character for "one". It looks like a dash.

Strange! I did type '一' (one), and it appears still horizontal on my screen. I don't know why it appears to some of you vertical. :conf

This last one is horizontal:

Strange! I did type '一' (one),

But the earlier one was vertical:

2.誰都可以像我ㄧ樣用功.

I assume that if semantic nuance only inputs one Chinese character of 一, it shows horizontal to some of us; if she inputs more than one Chinese character of 一, it shows vertical.

#1 Eng.: Nobody studies as hard as you do.

中文:没有人有你学得那么努力。

or...

谁也没你学得那么努力。

--------------------没(有)人像你这么努力(学习)

*in informal speech, the parenthesised words are strictly optional.

*here 'study' is optional if you're already on the subject

#2 Eng.: Anyone can study as hard as I can<--as I do?

中文:每个人能够学习有我那么用功。

---------------------谁都/人都/任何人也/ 可以像我这么努力(学习)(呀)

*shui is 'anyone'

*ren is like, 'people at large/ everyone'

*ren he...is like 'anyone whosoever'

*ya is emphatic (感叹词) used after a statement you think is obvious or self-evident

or to add 'simplicity', if someone is complimenting you, according to the custom of modesty, you may want to add this

*if you're using this sentence after someone has mentioned your study habits you can simply say:

-------------------谁都可以呀! Which will be understood from context.

*if you're going to use 'xiang', do not drop the 'xi' in 'xuexi' like you did here

谁也没你学<>得那么努力。

because 向谁学习 means to learn FROM someone, and the two 'xiang's are identical in pronunciation.

As not to start another thread: could someone advise with a translation of the Arabic word "Hamsa" to Mandarin? Thanks.
