who knows the traditional spelling of 孙 in english

such as 清华 in hanyupinyin is 'qinghua' ,but in traditional spelling, it's ' tsinghua'

anyone who knows the spelling of 孙?

according to this , it should simply be "sun". Remember "Sun Yat-sen"? Maybe that's a bad example, since it is not Mandarin, but back in those days they were all usind Wade Giles.

There's no such thing as 'traditional spelling' of Chinese. Before pinyin, all kinds of transliteration were used. Wade-Giles was the most important, I think, but there was also a French system, and several others. And not all of those systems transliterated the same dialects: some were for Mandarin, some for Hokkien and other dialects.

Hi my surname is 孙 and i'm Hokkien, and they use "Soon" :mrgreen: Too often when you use "Sun", they will pronounce as "San", as in the Sun...
