mandarinstudent Posted May 22, 2006 at 01:15 PM Report Posted May 22, 2006 at 01:15 PM I will be coming to Beijing in the next few weeks to stay for 2-3 years or so (reason why could be a whole new thread). I am wondering about working in Beijing doing something other than teaching english. A little about myself...Ive recently graduated with a degree in Finance with a 4.0 GPA. The bad thing is that it wasn't some prestigious university, just the one closest to where I live, and I don't have much experience. I've only done an internship at a small accounting firm. I just mostly worked as a waiter to put myself through school (no loans or mommy/daddy money). With these qualifications and no "guanxi", will I realistically be able to find work that pays decently using my degree in Beijing? I speak a little mandarin, but definitely not enough to conduct business. I've gotten a TESL certificate as backup and Im just wondering if I am going to have to use it. Anyone here in the same field that can give me some pointers? Thanks in advance. Quote
