krakel Posted May 23, 2006 at 03:07 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 03:07 AM Hey! I was just wodering if anyone here knows of any nice hotels in Shanghai and Beijing, that are OK priced? I've seen some online from around 200Y/night. I'm not looking for anything fancy, as long as it is clean I'm good! Thanx... Quote
amandathepanda Posted May 23, 2006 at 04:05 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 04:05 AM This summer I'm staying in Beijing and I'm staying at the Xijiao Hotel which is RMB 248 per night including breakfast. It has an American style bathroom too! My dad's friend checked it out and said it was really nice. I hope I helped! Quote
krakel Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:00 AM Author Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:00 AM You're right Xijiao Hotel seems real nice. What I'm wondering is where did you find the 248RMB price, according to this http://www.beijingservice.com/hotels/3-hotel/xijiaohotel.htm website it's going to cost me a litle more than that?! Quote
amandathepanda Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:23 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:23 AM Oh, well my dad's friend is actually the one who set it all up for me so I have no idea. You're right about there being a significant price discrepancy between what the website says and what I (hope I) will be paying. I am staying there for 6 weeks, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the price.... Here, this might help. http://www.xijiao-hotel.com.cn/english/kfjs/kfjs.htm Quote
gato Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:23 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:23 AM You can try this online travel agency, as well: http://www.elong.net/hotels/beijing.aspx Quote
rose~ Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:24 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 05:24 AM In Shanghai you could try motel 168, as it is clean and cheap. The location might be slighly out, but I think it is the best available in its price range and basically if you don't want to stay in a youth hostel or a run-down type cheap hotel (cheaper hotels can have a dodgy atmosphere in China, as in other countries). They have a few different locations. I haven't actually stayed there myself, though. http://home.wangjianshuo.com/archives/20040524_cheap_and_clean_motel_in_shanghai_motel168.htm http://www.motel168.com/ Also, it is recommended to book well in advance because they are so popular. mrtoga Posted May 23, 2006 at 11:06 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 11:06 AM You will only get that cheap rate for the Xijiao if you stay for several weeks. I got a nice room at the Tianrong Beijing recently booked using elong (www.elong.com - they have bookings in English too and you do not have to pay till you arrive at the hotel). Large executive room with internet access comfortable beds etc. for 330 near Chaoyangmen. Sorry, can't help you with Beijing..... Quote
skylee Posted May 23, 2006 at 01:27 PM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 01:27 PM I think this online-booking service is ok (I booked a room for my last trip to Chengdu and I liked its price, telephone/email support and no deposit/guarantee policy) -> http://www.sinohotel.com/index.html Last time I was in Beijing I stayed in Howard Johnson (寶辰飯店) opposite Beijing Train Station. It was ok but the price may not be low enough. I stayed in some 3-star hotels in Shanghai before but they were neither particularly cheap nor special. Their names are Zhao'an (兆安酒店) and Magnificent International (華美國際酒店). Quote
