kokoma Posted May 23, 2006 at 06:52 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 06:52 AM English teaching in beautiful areas of Lijiang, Dali and Western Sichuan ALong the way up Northwerstern Yunnaan (Dali, Lijiang) into Sichuan (Songpan, Langmusi, Chengdu), are there any English teaching opportunities? I'm sure in Chengdu there are a few PRIVATE language schools? Does anyone remember the names of a few? Chengdu aside, what possibilities are there for some casual teaching outside the city? Please respond if you've had direct experience teaching English in this part of Southwestern China. thx Quote
roddy Posted May 23, 2006 at 07:33 AM Report Posted May 23, 2006 at 07:33 AM You might want to have a look at Trace.org and the Kham Aid Foundation for info on some opportunities in the west of Sichuan. Quote
ShanShan-yi Posted January 15, 2017 at 04:59 AM Report Posted January 15, 2017 at 04:59 AM Do you want to stay in one place and travel the surrounding sites in your free time, or do you want to study as you travel? If the former, I just came back from a school that allows you to study and they take you on trips in the spare time. Its called the Lijiang academy of chinese language and culture, i think. a bit long, lol but you can find their website at www.lijiangacademy.com I booked a half month, and they took me to 6 beautiful destinations. Some close by and well-known, others that we were the only ones there. They taught well, also, but if youre gonna be practicing chinese outside be sure you practice with mandarin speakers if thats your goal. Lots of people from sichuan and the local people who dont speak mandarin so well, or with an accent. Also, they werent crazy busy while we were there. Dont know if that will be good for you or not. The owner is American, but while I was there they oinly had 3 other VIP students. I liked it, because it felt more personal and intimate. Also it was nice having small class sizes. But if youre looking to be surrounded by foreigners then you might get a little lonely unless you visit them during the summer months. Then I expect they will have more students. Hope I could help!
