flameproof Posted May 30, 2006 at 12:09 PM Report Posted May 30, 2006 at 12:09 PM Great!!!! With thanks to Imron my SMS works now in China! I can send SMS now! The service number was wrongly set. If you have a China Mobile Prepaid card bought in Shenzhen the number should be: +8613800755500 If you bought the SIM in other places (I presume) the number will be different. Quote
imron Posted May 30, 2006 at 12:19 PM Report Posted May 30, 2006 at 12:19 PM Yeah, the message centre number here in Qinhuangdao is 13800311500 Quote
Adrian Posted May 31, 2006 at 01:56 AM Report Posted May 31, 2006 at 01:56 AM Do you really have to set it everytime you enter a new city? Could anyone find out for me what is the number I need to enter for Shenzhen, Nanning, Wuhan, Beijing and Nanjing? Thanks, Quote
flameproof Posted June 1, 2006 at 11:42 PM Report Posted June 1, 2006 at 11:42 PM Do you really have to set it everytime you enter a new city? No. I think you have to register the number where your phone is registered. My card is from Shenzhen, so I use the SZ number. But I use my phone mainly in DG, which has a 0769 area code. I am sure you don't have to change the message center number, but I am not sure if SMS from different areas have different charges. Quote
imron Posted June 2, 2006 at 12:12 AM Report Posted June 2, 2006 at 12:12 AM You don't have the change the number everytime you go to a new city. I've sent SMSs from all over China and never changed this number. It might well be as flameproof suggested, you need to use the message centre of where your phone is registered. I just tried using the Shenzhen message centre on my phone, and it says the number is not valid. Quote
Adrian Posted June 2, 2006 at 02:19 PM Report Posted June 2, 2006 at 02:19 PM Alright thanks. It seems more than likely I will get a card in Shenzhen, can anyone please tell me that number? Thanks. Also, how much does it cost for a China Mobile prepaid sim card? Just like to know so I do not get ripped off.....also, how much credit should I purchase? I will be in China for one month and will do SMS mostly to overseas and to other mobiles in China. Thanks again. Quote
