randall_flagg Posted May 24, 2006 at 04:45 PM Report Posted May 24, 2006 at 04:45 PM Hey there! I'm looking for a book to help me interpret Chinese poems (mainly Tang poems). Can anyone recommend such a thing, preferably in Chinese? I am not looking for translations; I want to understand the deeper meaning, innuendos and the like. So fully analyses would be nice. Thanks, Randall Quote

student Posted June 3, 2006 at 10:14 PM Report Posted June 3, 2006 at 10:14 PM One I've found very rewarding, though much less detailed than the one above, is Five Lectures on Chinese Poetry. - LU ZHIWEI available online at (scroll down past the russian to get to the links to the text of each of the lectures). Also, not online as far as I know, but very helpful to me is: Fifty-Five T'ang Poems, A text in the reading and understanding of T'ang Poetry by Hugh M. Stimson, Yale University Press. and A Little Primer of Tu Fu by David Hawkes, Oxford Actually, if the last two are by some chance online somewhere, I'd love to know the link! Quote
