那一定会给你胸腔毛 ! (na yi ding hui gei ni xiong qiang mau)

(那一定会给你胸腔毛 looks suspiciously like a direct translation from English - I was really after a proper Chinese phrase)

It has occurred to me that the English can mean slightly different things in different situations.

Yes, I think the direct translation takes the humor out of the origninal idiom.

That’ll put hair on your chest 就是中文里“壮胆”,“压惊”的意思。

For example, if you say, “Hey, take some wine, that’ll put hair on your chest.” In Chinese, that is 来,喝点酒,壮壮胆(压压惊)。
