Junior Posted June 1, 2006 at 04:15 AM Report Posted June 1, 2006 at 04:15 AM How does one express wishes, as in "I wish I could be there for your birthday" or "I wish I didn't have to work today"...? I've always wondered this but everything I try doesn't really feel correct somehow... Can anyone help please? Quote
skylee Posted June 1, 2006 at 05:52 AM Report Posted June 1, 2006 at 05:52 AM I think I would simply use 希望. People can tell from the context that the wish is impossible. Quote
semantic nuance Posted June 1, 2006 at 06:00 AM Report Posted June 1, 2006 at 06:00 AM or you can use '真想....'. Use your setences as examples: 1. I wish I could be there for your birthday!. (我)真想跟你一起慶祝生日! 2. I wish I didn't have to work today. (我)真想今天可以不用工作. Hope it helps! Quote
