David W Jackson Posted June 10, 2006 at 02:34 AM Report Posted June 10, 2006 at 02:34 AM Does anyone know of a virtual Chinese Corner, you know a sort of chat room for practising Mandarin, preferably with voice but typed pinyin would be just as useful to me. (I did try one once, I think it was zhongwen.com but there were no users). Plus, am I alone, or is there anyone else out there who is not learning hanzi just yet, focussing instead on developing speaking skills using hanyu pinyin alone? I'm using Vis-Ed Chinese Vocab Cards, Colloquial Chinese (Tung and Pollard), Teach Yourself Chinese, Say it Easily (New World Press) and Fluent Chinese (NWP), my own vocab book crammed with phrases and sentences and Grammatik des Modernen Chinesisch. I'm interested in hearing from others who are using a similar approach with a view to swapping ideas that work. Cheers. Quote
roddy Posted June 10, 2006 at 07:59 AM Report Posted June 10, 2006 at 07:59 AM I don't know of any bar Zhongwen.com's. We have had chatrooms on here in the past - tried it twice I think - but neither time did it really attract many users. Why not start a Pinyin discussion here Quote
igotyofire Posted June 11, 2006 at 03:56 AM Report Posted June 11, 2006 at 03:56 AM i think we should all exchange skype or yahoo ID's and voice chat together for pratice Quote
