yonitabonita Posted June 25, 2006 at 09:16 AM Report Posted June 25, 2006 at 09:16 AM Hi folks, Anyone know what "plain flour" is in Mandarin? (ie, as opposed to "self raising flour", "corn flour", etc) I'm looking for something more specific than 面粉. I've just been in the supermarket comparing packets and finally gave up. It occurred me to ask someone which flour was used to make pancakes, then wrote it off as soon as I thought of it. It's like asking someone which aisle sells the stuff that makes vegemite black. grateful if anyone can help. Y Quote
JaneHou Posted June 25, 2006 at 01:41 PM Report Posted June 25, 2006 at 01:41 PM the specific meaning of plain flour in Maradin is 低筋面粉,and in China ,when you call 面粉,that usually means 低筋面粉.There is no difference. In China ,people normaly use flour(plain flour),we seldom use other kind flour such as self raising flour or corn flour. Quote
tanhql Posted June 25, 2006 at 04:15 PM Report Posted June 25, 2006 at 04:15 PM i googled 'plain flour 面粉' and got this link: http://my.opera.com/lsh/blog/show.dml/292205 it seems that 面粉 is plain flour, and any other flour has some 'prefix' attached to 面粉, like 自发面粉. self raising flour(somehow, i find 自发面粉 a bit funny) Quote
