jinjin Posted June 30, 2006 at 12:52 AM Report Posted June 30, 2006 at 12:52 AM Hi, I'm about to embark to Beijing to study at BeiDa for a year or two and I have a few old shaky fillings with a possible need for a crown (too much information, I'm sure). Anyway, if I choose to take a chance and something is to go wrong in Beijing, how is the dental care there? I've heard anywhere from very poor (obviously the current conception on China by Americans) and pretty advanced. All of these opinions are from people in America (or expats) who haven't been in PRC for decades. Does anyone have an opinion on simple fillings/crowns? Quote
Xiao Kui Posted June 30, 2006 at 03:06 AM Report Posted June 30, 2006 at 03:06 AM I think you can find both poor and excellent dental care in China. I never lived in BJ but in 2 less developed, yet large western cities. In both cities there were at least 1 or 2 dentists that came highly recommended by other foreigners, who had crowns, fillings, root canals, and wisdom teeth extractions in China. The 2 most important things - get a recommendation from another westerner for a good dentist and remember to ask for anesthesia. It will definitely be cheaper than in a western country, but if you have good dental insurance you might as take advantage of it and get it done in your home country before you go.
