can we say "afternoon 8 o'clock" instead of "evening 8 o'clock" ?

Yes.

But must we translate "on what day does the airplane leave" by "plane leaves which number" ?

It should be "plane which number leaves".

"afternoon 8 o'clock" can not instead of "evening 8 o'clock" .

Usually we say 'evening 8','evening 7', but 'afternoon 6', 'afternoon 5'
