Crivens200 Posted July 5, 2006 at 01:50 PM Report Posted July 5, 2006 at 01:50 PM Wonder if anyone has used this piece of software? I read that something like 6m people in China use this to surf blocked websites. Is this true I wonder? I'm having a lot of trouble viewing websites I want - even going through the proxies doesn't work too well, especially on member sites that I would like to post on forums etc. Anyone got a tried and tested method? I also tried firefox and tor but that doesn't seem too reliable. Darn this internet blocking! Quote
Oriphia Posted July 25, 2006 at 04:28 AM Report Posted July 25, 2006 at 04:28 AM It doesn't work on entry blocked sites, its most powerful function is blocking the float-ads and pop-up ads. I never heard about such function, and that's obviously impossible, the ISPs filter the website on hardware layer, at the moment, Socket 5 proxy is the most efficient way. In fact, Wikipedia cyclopedia is not available in China Quote
gato Posted July 25, 2006 at 06:47 AM Report Posted July 25, 2006 at 06:47 AM Maxthon is just a browser, just as an alternative from internet explorer. It has nothing to do with getting around the blocking. Google "tor" or "torpark" for software that will allow you get around the firewall. Quote
liuzhou Posted July 25, 2006 at 09:03 AM Report Posted July 25, 2006 at 09:03 AM Maxthon is just a browser, just as an alternative from internet explorer. Maxthon isn't even an alternative to Internet Explorer. It is just a different front. It uses IE for most of its functionality. In fact, Wikipedia cyclopedia is not available in China But this is!
