Bruce_B Posted July 7, 2006 at 04:55 PM Report Posted July 7, 2006 at 04:55 PM What are the laws on what sort of knife a person can carry in China? I'm mainly hoping I could carry a Swiss Army Knife or a folding pliers type multi-tool. Thanks, Bruce Quote
GV.979 Posted July 7, 2006 at 11:30 PM Report Posted July 7, 2006 at 11:30 PM Don't know the specific laws, but a Swiss Army knife or something like it shouldn't be a problem. All kinds of knives are sold here. Though, switchblades are illegal. Many people carry some sort of pocket knife of sorts if for no other reason than to just peel an apple. Quote
andychao Posted July 8, 2006 at 01:18 AM Report Posted July 8, 2006 at 01:18 AM It won't cause any problem, whatever knids of knifes u can carry. Quote
Bruce_B Posted July 8, 2006 at 03:26 AM Author Report Posted July 8, 2006 at 03:26 AM Cool. I just assumed it would be rather strict. Quote
dalaowai Posted July 8, 2006 at 04:13 AM Report Posted July 8, 2006 at 04:13 AM One of my slightly deranged friends (deranged in a good way) used to carry a large machete-like knife on his belt and the cops never said anything to him. This was in a village surrounding though. Night markets in villages are cool, because you can find all sorts of knives and swords, etc. Quote
mr.stinky Posted July 9, 2006 at 11:49 AM Report Posted July 9, 2006 at 11:49 AM i've seen guys in kunming carrying small folding knives (2-3") on their belts in little holsters. Quote
Bruce_B Posted July 9, 2006 at 02:41 PM Author Report Posted July 9, 2006 at 02:41 PM Thanks for the feedback. What I want to carry shouldn't be a problem then. Quote
