ipramono Posted July 14, 2006 at 01:15 AM Report Posted July 14, 2006 at 01:15 AM Any recommendation for the restaurant/cafe that has a very cool Air Conditioner, and very fast internet access/wifi? Thanks in advance Quote
Shadowdh Posted July 14, 2006 at 02:24 PM Report Posted July 14, 2006 at 02:24 PM Maybe Tous Les Jours... its not a fancy restaurant but you can get wifi for free... well nearly I bought a iced chocolate each time I went in but saw many just come in and use the wifi or pcs... its just on the corner up from the station... yonitabonita Posted July 14, 2006 at 03:09 PM Report Posted July 14, 2006 at 03:09 PM Or Sculpting in Time Cafe. Across the road from Tous Les Jours. There's also "Be for Time Tea", a few minutes up the road from the east gate of the BLCU. For 18 kuai, you can order anything off the drinks and dessert menu, as many times as you like for as long as you like. That said, I've never tried sitting there for more than 24 hours and seeing if my 18 kuai deal applies the following day. I suspect it would be in poor taste... but funny.. Quote
adrianlondon Posted July 14, 2006 at 03:14 PM Report Posted July 14, 2006 at 03:14 PM Let me get this right ... 18 Kuai. Anything off the desert menu. All day. As many times as you like. Bloody hell. I'm there! Quote

roddy Posted July 14, 2006 at 05:33 PM Report Posted July 14, 2006 at 05:33 PM There's a limit to how fast you are going to get on wi-fi. I think most places have 54 Mps set-ups now, though there may be some still on 11. There's a ton of cafes though, virtually anywhere on the strip running south of Lush has wi-fi and they surely all have air-con (Sculpting in Time has huge ceiling mounted industrial-type units if you really want to keep cool. ) Quote

roddy Posted July 19, 2006 at 03:37 AM Report Posted July 19, 2006 at 03:37 AM I have no idea, haven't even been up to Wudaokou in months. However, there must be what, 5 or 6 different places with wi-fi all within a five minute walk of each other. Just check them all out. . . Quote
venture160 Posted July 19, 2006 at 05:34 AM Report Posted July 19, 2006 at 05:34 AM In wudaokou you can get WIFI signals from people's apartments in HuaQingJiaYuan who are too lazy to turn on the security functions. Another place is the O2 Sun bookstore cafe right across the hall from Lush, its alot quieter in there. Roddy, I haven't been to WuDaoKou in months either until this last weekend. Nothing really has changed but the amount of foreign students during the summer is rediculous, it seems every college campus back iin the states has a co-operative program now in Beijing. I live near the west gate of RenMin DaXue, and there are alot of short term summer students here from the states, I don't know what they are studying, but it sure isn't Chinese as I've had to translate a few times for them when I run into them at the big local market here. P.S if you want a GREAT cafe that is 太安静。。 go for the MAG CAFE (阅读生活) at 人民大学西门附近. Free wifi too. its about a 15 kuai cab ride from 五道口 Quote
ipramono Posted July 19, 2006 at 02:40 PM Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 at 02:40 PM i tried lush (o2 bookstore's upstairs),Tous Les Jours (or something like that) sculpting in time already. None of their wifi works. I don't know why. My laptop had never get a wifi problem before. Beside that, none of those cafe meet my Air Conditioner criteria standard. >,< It is still not enough cool..... >,< Quote
venture160 Posted July 19, 2006 at 03:24 PM Report Posted July 19, 2006 at 03:24 PM A big problem with any cafe with A/C here in Beijing is that they rank of cigarette smoke, nasty in my opinion, I prefer to stay at home. Quote
